I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Andrews Valley rail bike tour, and it was one of the most unique and enjoyable adventures that my husband and I had taken. From start to finish, the entire experience was nothing short of great. The tour itself offers a perfect blend of relaxation, scenic beauty, and just the right amount of physical activity. Pedaling along the railway tracks through picturesque landscapes was an absolute delight. The rhythm of the ride, paired with the stunning views, made for an incredibly serene and memorable journey. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or a casual rider, the rail bikes are designed to be comfortable and easy to use, making this an activity that everyone can enjoy. But what truly set this experience apart were the exceptional tour guides. From the moment we arrived, they were welcoming, enthusiastic, and incredibly knowledgeable. They were attentive to everyone's needs, ensuring we were all comfortable and having a great time. Their friendly demeanor and sense of humor made the tour feel more like a fun outing with friends rather than a guided tour. They even addressed my bee sting as they keep a first aid kit with them.In addition to their warmth and expertise, the guides went above and beyond to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants. They even captured photos of us prior to starting our adventure.Overall, the rail bike tour exceeded all my expectations, largely thanks to the exceptional team of guides who made the experience truly unforgettable. If you're looking for a unique adventure that combines nature, and a bit of exercise, this tour is an absolute must-do. I can't recommend it highly enough!

We did our tour on Labor Day Weekend. It was a unique experience and weโ€™re glad we did it. We wanted to do a rail bike, but by the time we called, the rail cart was the only thing left so we decided to do that. Storms were looming in the afternoon, so the staff was trying their best to get us going to get there and back safely before the storm hit. That, plus people arriving late and rail bike issues all made things stressful for the staff. The ride was shorter than expected. There were less Mountain Views and more riding through tight trees than expected. The hand carved tunnel was quite a feat! Our expectations were high based on reviews, news stories and reels so we were left somewhat underwhelmed. Also, we felt it was a little pricey for what it was and then frustrated that there was an expectation (pressure) to show our appreciation and tip our โ€œtour guidesโ€. They were nice guys and they did their jobs but the event was more of a ride than a tour.

Fun way to spend a couple hours. Uphill out, electric assist motor helps make it not too hard, pretty much coast on the way back. Take snacks / cooler, they donโ€™t provide any food or drink.

The pedaling was a good experience. Not much scenery to see other than the tunnel. No wildlife other than 1 turkey. Noisy ride from the tracks. We were in car #2 and our chain came off twice. Pedaling was easy and at times you didnt have to pedal. The picnic area needs work done to it. Hot day at 11:30 on 8/29/24. If youโ€™ve never done this, go try it. They only have 5 bike carts which is 20 seats, 4 seats to a bike so book in advance. Cross on bridges, see houses on both sides and streams. The staff was excellent and friendly. All knew what they were doing. Gave a demo on what to do, felt like I was in an airplane, lol, but was needed to know. The one in the main seat on bike had the most responsibility, which wasnโ€™t me😉😉. We laughed and grunted like it was hard to pedal, when we werent peddling 😉😉. Good experience. Neat to see them turn the bikes around at the tunnel. I wasnt able to upload videos .

Driving/pedaling the rail bike was a cool experience. That part was the most fun. There was not much to the scenery although the tunnel was pretty nice. If you are in this area, it is something fun to do. We drove 3 hours specifically to do it and drove back because we had no other plans. I would not recommend driving more than an hour or hour and half for this experience. Everyone working there was super nice.

This tour was a blast and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff are wonderful and very focused on safety. The hand carved train tunnel at the turnaround point was very interesting and quite a feat given that power tools were not available then. Would highly recommend making a weekend out of this. Andrews has good eating places, hiking and rafting close by.

We made our rail reservation 6 weeks ahead and paid about $280. We arrived 45 minutes early and a lady was holding a clip board and she was telling a group we will meet at the tables so we waited for the meeting. They started loading up and all the cars were full and we asked what happen and she said very very ugly you didn't come and tell me you were here so I sold you seats. No ride and we wasted $280.

First of all buy tickets in advance since you cannot be certain there will be availability. We also invited 2 others so that we would have a full cart with people we know. I will say that the motor assist was very important on the way up to the top at the turn around. It would have been a troublesome ride uphill without it. The way back down you are coasting most of the way and then the rest is fairly level. We used the motor intermittently on the way up and ended up with a half of a battery at the end. The safety briefing at the beginning did not take too long and most of it was common sense. Really appreciate the update to the bridge on the uphill side of the tunnel so that we could ride all the way through. The added picnic tables along the creek while waiting for them to turn the carts around was a really nice touch. The staff was very friendly and helpful, clearly love talking about the tour and equipment.

Agree with everything said about fun, beautiful countryside, ease of pedaling but also want to include their concern for the safety for all passengers. About 6 staff members in carts in the front and back of our line of bikes. One member got out at the few street crossings to ensure any cars were stopped. Seatbelt checks done as well as frequent checks on how we were doing. Very well-run with friendly, informative and helpful staff. Advice to sign your liability paperwork on line before arriving.

Super friendly staff. The ride is way easier than expected. Very little resistance pedaling, not meant for taller people, seats donโ€™t adjust far back enough (Iโ€™m 6โ€™5โ€). Staff lets you know itโ€™s not a race but many seem to rush through it. Think it will be a great fall trip.

The staff was pleasant and helpful. We arrived as suggested 30 minutes before departure, went into the office and filled out the waivers which are extremely simple. Promptly at 15 minutes till departure, they explained through a megaphone, all information needed about riding the bike assist rail cars. Our group of five however, went on a platform with swivel chairs that were very comfortable. We were at the front of the caravan being pulled by a small engine driven vehicle operated by one of the folks that works for the company. The ride Very enjoyable as you get to see the area that otherwise would not be accessible by roads. We were taken to a a beautiful tunnel that was man-made and spent some time in that area off the rails by a babbling brook. There were plenty of picnic tables and a restroom was available. You can bring your own food and drink on the carts with you to enjoy at that site. We would recommend this ride and look forward to the possibility of a longer one next time we visit as I know they are trying to get more rail usage and possibly even a trip between Andrews and Murphy North Carolina!

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Andrew Railways on a girls' trip to celebrate my aunt's birthday, and it was an absolute blast! We kicked off the day with the 8am tour, and everything was perfect. The weather was ideal, the tour guides brought amazing energy, and the scenery was breathtaking. We even spotted a turkey along the way!One of the highlights was getting into the water to snap some fun photos. We burned some calories and kept the energy high by doing karaoke while we rodeโ€”it was such a unique and memorable experience! After the tour, the guides were super helpful, giving us great recommendations on where to eat and which waterfalls to visit. We had such an incredible time, I will certainly recommend this to my friends and clients!

This was a unique experience - riding pedal-driven rail carts (4 people per cart) through some beautiful scenery. Donโ€™t be intimidated by the effort required to pedal these vehicles, as the terrain is mostly flat and they are e-bike power assisted. Our guides were friendly and informative, with sufficient time spent on safety instructions.I think this is a relatively new venture for the area, and one of the shortcomings that bothered me (but maybe not others) was the amount of time spent at the halfway point. It seemed too long with not much to do (we DID bring a snack, which is a good idea). While it understandably takes time to turn the carts around, there was also significant time spent doing nothing. Again, I may be alone in finding this to be a negative.Good fun for kids and/or groups.

I purchased tickets for this rail tour about a week in advance for a Saturday morning, but the peddle cars were already booked. So we reserved the covered rail car option. My friend and I sat in the third row. The morning temperature was perfect! Warning: If it rained the night before, you may get sprinkled by water from the roof when the ride begins and when the vehicle brushes against vegetation along the way. The ride to the tunnel and stream area was relaxing and fun! Once we arrived at the destination, they let us roam around the stream area, picnic if desired, and explore the cool tunnel. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It was just the right length of time, workers were helpful and kind, and the experience was worth it! By the way, they have nice restrooms available before boarding. While there was a rustic looking outhouse at the destination, no one from our 30 member group needed to use it. Next time, I would love to book on the peddle-assist car! They looked so fun!

Such a fun ride. The railway had wonderful scenery and was mostly shaded. The guides were knowledgeable and fun to talk to at the tunnel during the break. The ride takes about 1 1/2 hrs. I highly recommend taking the bikes as they are not difficult to pedal. They are semi motorized which makes for an easier trip.

What a fun trip. My sister and I took our 77 year old dad on this trip and had a blast. He said that it was "just right." Very well managed and run. Felt safe while seeing beautiful views and experiencing something new. The hand-carved tunnel was very cool. Enjoyed a picnic by the water's edge before watching the carts get turned around and heading back (all downhill) to the starting point. All staff was knowledgeable and accommodating.

My wife and I really enjoyed this tour. The rail bikes are electric assisted, so they are not very difficult to pedal during the tour, which is just over 8 miles in length. The tour takes you over multiple trestles where the tracks cross over streams. The tour takes you through wooded areas, along streams and through pastures with good views of the surrounding mountains. Very enjoyable experience, which takes just over 2 hours. I would highly recommend this tour.

Great time had by all. Will definitely do this again. The man made tunnel was amazing, the landscape was beautiful. There were picnic tables along the creek so you could have a bite to eat before you headed back to the station. The staff was awesome, they made sure that everyone was having a great time and that we had no trouble with the rail bike. Highly recommend this adventure.

We had a great time. The men who help with the cart ride were super friendly and knowledgeable. The area was awesome to see from the tracks. The place you stop at the end, was very nice filled with picnic tables, and an area to walk around and take pictures of the tunnel was very nicely done.
